It was good to meet so many talented and enthusiastic people.
The next stage will be auditions and casting which will be taking place by appointment over the next few months.
Rehearsals will begin in January 2027.
This musical play is a work of pure fiction, though events created could have been entirely possible. The historical facts employed are all verified. Inspiration for the production came from Stephen Carvill’s famous sculpture of a girl knitting a gansey to be seen on North Pier in Bridlington Harbour.
Cast in no particular order.
Narrator – a modern day character – (Gives prologue.) Sarah Ellen Bloomfield – a young Bridlington woman. (Gansey Girl) Flo Calland – a young Bridlington woman. Edna Denton – a young Bridlington woman. Mabel Fenton – a young Bridlington woman. Rose Bloomfield – Sarah’s mother. Matty Bloomfield – Sarah’s father. Jacob Dinsdale – Sarah & Thomas’s son – playing age 7/8. Thomas Dinsdale – a young fisherman. Ginny Dinsdale – Thomas’s mother. Frank Mac – a young fisherman. Arthur Arnold – a young fisherman. Gran – Sarah’s grandmother. Bill/Billy Porritt – an insurance man/boat owner. Harbour Master – probably an older man. Amos – an older fisherman.
Plus an assortment of singers/dancers – all ages above 16.
